J.Crew is having 25% off with code STYLETREAT and 30% off final sale items. The 25% off promotion continues in stores this weekend as well. I was super excited to learn that my favorite Crewcuts bow coat is back again this year in grey and black! I just ordered the grey one in size 14 since I already own it in size 12. Thanks to Annie for the heads up on this coat and a shorter option in navy from the Kate Spade x GapKids collaboration (links at bottom of this post)! Update 10/20/15: Check out the 2015 version of the crewcuts bow coat here.
Thanks to a lovely follower on Instagram for informing me that my favorite 'Poppyy' flats are back in stock in smaller sizes (starting at size 5) at Nordstrom! Now if only they would go on sale because they're spring/summer flats and it's already boot season. My favorite pair of all the colors is the black and white version since it reminds me of the popular Chanel flats but for a fraction of the cost. I personally found that these run about a half size larger but the size 7 works for me with plenty of space in the front for my toes so I could probably take these in a size 6.5.
My friend Thu also showed me a similar, quilted pair from Macy's called 'Passion' yesterday and upon further research I also found a similar style called 'Portia'. Links to the same and similar styles below.
A while back I tried on these Millie flats in store in navy size 7. They're soft and comfy and in my opinion they run true to size but my size is currently sold out online. Note that they're offering double points for shoe purchases if you're a card holder.
Update 10/25: I popped by one of my local Ann Taylor's last night and tried on this tweed skirt after my coworker had pointed it out. Size 0P fit well and the length was very work appropriate but I passed for now.
Petite styles were very limited in the store I visited so my only find was this floral lace dress that caught my eye in the sales rack. I got it on final sale for $54.88. I love the midi skirt length and the fact that a regular black bra blends right in and doesn't show through the material.
Note: Petites sizes are sold out online and only some larger and tall sizes left.
I forgot to share this casual top from a few weeks ago but I've since returned it and the item number of the receipt (17488990) doesn't help me locate it online. It's cute if you can find the right size. The sheer material on the arms are really tight even in small petite so I returned it.
Here are my other picks from this sale. I've slightly updated my picks based on a few items I saw in regular sizing in person. ;)
I'm still looking for the crepe moto jacket in XXSP since XSP was too roomy on me as the fit is one size bigger. I'm hoping my size will pop up in the sales rack but at this point I'm running out of hope so I guess it wasn't meant to be.
Kate Spade is having a Friends & Family sale event for 30% off with code F14FFUS today through Sunday (10/17-10/19). This offer is good online, in stores and in their outlet locations. Thanks to Annie for the sale alert last night!
Here are my picks:
Also, LOFT has some cute new arrivals that are 40% off (sweaters & tops only) and I’m eying this coatigan and stripe ruffle blouse. I adore the solid loch blue color since the style is reminiscent of my favorite sleeveless ruffle blouse (last seen here).
Update 10/19: I tried on the coatigan at LOFT Friday night since I forgot a jacket and it was nippy at night. Size XS/S petite was oversized on me so I'm wearing it closed here instead of open like the model in the online stock image. It was a very photogenic topper since the below picture makes it look cute. In real life I didn't love it on me so I passed.
While browsing in store I also spotted the stripe ruffle blouse in petites and tried it on for size. It fits true to size but I wasn't sure how I felt about it so I ended up leaving the store empty handed.
I also tried on the Ann Taylor's boiled wool button up cape the previous week but forgot to share it on my blog. Here is the regular XXS size on me. The belt that goes around your waist fits narrow for this size and the sides are exposed making this is more of a stylish option rather than a practical coat. I wasn't a huge fan of the boiled wool material so I passed but I can see the appeal if you get the chance to try it on for yourself.
I recently upgraded to the iPhone 6 (pre-ordered it via Verizon and skipped the crazy lines) but by the time I went to look for a case all the pretty ones were sold out. After much browsing I came across this glittery beauty and couldn't be happier.
I tried on this hacking blazer earlier this week and I can't stop thinking about it. Note that it runs fitted so you may want to size up to layer comfortably. Size 2P was too loose and boxy on me. If you're a BR card holder then you can get 40% off with code BRTHANKYOU while non-cardholders get 30% off with the same code. I'm also obsessed with this scarf but I didn't see it in store.
3.25" heel with a .5" platform. The shaft (measured from the back of the top of the stacked heel) is 15.5" and the circumference of the leg opening is 13.75".
In my opinion these run true to size to half size larger since I can be between half sizes. I took a 7M in this style. The middle (widest part of my calves) measures 13.25" while the very top of my calves below the knee caps are 12.25".
I saw these boots (suede version here) while browsing in store and immediately gravitated towards the chic simplicity of this style. Unfortunately, I'm on the fence about returning them because the ankles bunch a little bit and I can stick my whole hand into the gap up top. The width of the foot also runs slightly narrow so if you plan on wearing thick socks for warmth that may not work especially if your feet swell from a full day of walking or standing. I'm contemplating getting heel lift inserts since the shaft is the slightest bit too tall for my leg. This means that when I sit down it digs into the back of my knees. Aesthetically the look of the Sullivan boot is very sleek and I love the sturdy, non-slip sole and discreet logo.
These lovely black suede pumps by Louise Et Cie are another shoe I loved upon first sight. I purchased them for 20% off retail at Lord & Taylor a little while back but it looks like they're on sale and available at Dillards for cheaper ($83.40). They fit true to size and I took my usual size 7. The 3" heel is a very comfortable height and the peep toe opening doesn't dig/bite into my toes which is very important.
This was a fun week for getting dressed in the mornings. All my LOFT orders from the previous week's sale came in the mail and I was able to grab the easy to wear pieces and style them with minimal effort for four out of five days. LOFT is running another 40% off everything promotion so hopefully my pictures will help you make up your mind about some of their new arrivals.
This past Monday I found this cute poncho at LOFT Outlet. and I immediately wore it out of the store since the temperature had dipped at night due to the drizzly, chilly weather. I loved it so much that I wore it again on Tuesday (above).
LOFT Outlet Poncho (available in grey and black, one size, product no. on receipt: 17032810; $39.99)
I passed by the LOFT at the Prudential Center today and I learned that they carry select shoes! The sales associate kindly helped me with these ankle strap booties and I brought them home to try. I've never owned booties before and they're a bit outside of my comfort zone. After trying these on I'm not sure I'm 100% sold on the look but they look so chic on other people.
LOFT Ankle Strap Booties (runs slightly narrow if you plan to wear thick socks but 1/2 size larger)
I also spotted this utility jacket in store today and while I had liked it the fitting room I'm feeling ambivalent about it after trying it on again at home. I tried removing the hood (there's a zipper) and/or the fur trim (attached by buttons) but I think the jacket looks best with the hood and fur trim intact.
Cole Haan Nude Flats from Nordstrom Rack (old, last year)
I originally tried on this colorblock woven sweatshirt in stores in XSP. I had sized down to XXSP when I ordered this top online to give it one last try. Unfortunately, I think it's still too blousy to be worn tucked in clean (at least for me). Contrary to the name of this shirt I agree with the online reviewer that it's a dressier version of a baseball tee. I liked that it wasn't too see through unlike many of their other polyester tops. I'll have to try it on with black pants and black skirts to see if I like the look more.
