Review: BR Dark Wash Roll-Up Skinny Jeans

I originally ordered these jeans in 2S (26S) based on the online reviews but I returned them due to an ill fit. I promptly reordered two pairs in 0S (25S) during the 40% off promotion and they arrived in the mail today.

I love the fit of these and hopefully you can see why in the pictures below. I usually wear a 25S in BR jeans and found that 0S fits TTS. The online inseam measurements are pretty accurate. When I checked the inseam I measured them at 26.5" cuffed and 28.5" uncuffed with a 10.5" opening at the hem (when I wrapped my tape measure around the bottom of hem so it's probably 10" if you have to fit your ankle within the opening).

If you're ordering based on the online reviews then the review by BR 1521469 is the most accurate in terms of the description of the jean. However, I'm 5'2 1/4" and I do not have curvy calves or thighs so the short inseam works for me uncuffed. I think petite ladies with a slimmer figure will be pleased with the cut and inseam of size 00S (24S). You'll need to find these in store because the smallest size is sold out online.

Update 05.16.2012: I noticed that my review is now up on the BR website. It takes a while since they moderate the reviews.

  • Dessert at Blue Asia Cafe - You should try their Eight Treasures shaved ice. In my opinion, they have the best bubble tea around town. The boba is always perfectly chewy. I wish I knew how to make their pudding.
  • Soft tofu jigae and beef bulgogi at Kaju Tofu (newly opened).
  • Hot pot buffet (in Boston Chinatown) - I've never eaten so much meat in one sitting!
  • Frozen yogurt at Mixx - I prefer the self-service model when eating ice cream and frozen yogurt. They have fun, fresh toppings. The Thai iced tea flavor is my favorite flavor because it isn't too tart (when compared to Pinkberry).
  • Toasted Ravioli's at Donohue's - 'Toasted to perfection' with just the right amount of crunch. The ricotta cheese inside is heavenly.
  • Johnny Rockets - We stopped by Johnny Rockets after shopping for a replacement for the bracelet I lost on Monday. I love ketchup smiley faces.
  • Discovering Max Brenner - I've passed this restaurant so many times but I finally tried it out with a friend last night. I thoroughly enjoyed everything we ordered and their B.A.L.T is amazing! I'm a huge fan of anything with generous helpings of avocado. I had serious food envy watching dishes come out to the tables all around me.
  • Homemade sponge cake for a friend's birthday - My friend's mom is a great cook and she isn't afraid to experiment in the kitchen.
  • Having breakfast for dinner and trying out an easy new recipe for egg cups.
  • Pretty purple flowers - I love the displays at Chestnut Hill Mall. If you hate crowds then you should try this mall since it generally has less foot traffic. The Banana Republic Women's store is my favorite place to shop because it has a good petite's selection. This mall also has the only Bloomingdale's in Massachusetts (the Bloomingdale's Outlet in Wrentham doesn't count).

MaiTai Scarf Ring Review

I recently purchased a hand carved horn scarf ring, Moyenne size in dark honey from MaiTai. With shipping it was €39.10 EUR or $52.54 USD. It took 4 days to arrive from France to New York but I didn't receive the package until a week later (due to processing and handling between NY and MA).

MaiTai packs the item with extreme care so my package arrived in perfect condition. It was sent in a padded envelope with bubble wrap and tissue paper around a small blue dust box tied with a pink ribbon. Inside the box is a lovely blue velvet pouch with the scarf ring. The item itself also appears to be top quality/craftsmanship and it is smooth and substantial to the touch.

For those of you that are curious, the Moyenne size is approximately 1.75" L x 1.25" W.

I'm sure I'll be purchasing more (in different sizes/colors) once I master tying knots with the Moyenne size. I've been searching a scarf ring for a while in order to achieve a more polished look and I'm glad I discovered MaiTai's blog.

Can't wait to try tying knots using the following how-to tutorials (also by the lovely MaiTai):

OOTD & Purchases for the week of April 9

Theory t-shirt, Express shorts (old), H&M scarf (from last year I think), Toy Watch, Sketchers flats, Tiffany & Co. pearl and open heart bracelets & necklace, LV Trevi PM, Chanel sunnies

It was a gorgeous weekend in Boston. I hope everyone got to go out and enjoy it despite the extra crowds due to the Marathon (happening tomorrow). Just sharing a quick snap shot of what I wore while out shopping today. :)

Below is a highlight of some things I purchased this past week (I love getting packages and I hope I like most of what I purchased online).

(1) BaByliss Pro BAB2000 Ceramix Xtreme Dryer - Favorite blow dryer. It feels like one of those high powered hand dryers but not too hot. This dryer cuts down on time spent drying my hair in the mornings.

Banana Republic
What I purchased for 40% off + $10 Rewards:

(1) Bow Sweater, size XSP in grey
Update 04.18.2012: Not a fan. Sleeves too short (the sleeves are as pictured on the model from the website in the coral color) but they grey color was just "eh" overall. I temporarily forgot that I dislike sleeves that are neither short sleeve nor quarter sleeves. I probably got a little crazy just ordering away with 40% off.
(2) Silk pleat front blouse, size 00P in shiny silver
Update 04.18.2012: Not a fan. Length of the shirt is too short and not much room for movement. Would definitely fit smaller ladies than myself.
(3) Dark wash roll-up skinny jean, size 2S in indigo
Update 04.17.2012: Returning size 2S which I ordered since I heard it runs small. Size 2S was a bit too big on me and it bunched funny in the back (on the upper thigh right below the back pockets). I was also able to stick both hands between the waist comfortably so the waist offers some stretch. Re-ordered in size 0S. I hope 0S is not drastically smaller in the waist but provides a better fit in the back. The indigo color is really nice and classic.
(4) White skinny legging jeans, size 0S. I already own one pair (purchased at almost 50% off) and love them. White jeans are essential for spring/summer pairings.
Update 04.17.2012: I wore and washed the existing pair once and they stretched out a bit after wearing them all day. Not overly much but now that I have two I'm deciding if I should just return the other.
(5) Two-tone cotton scarf in apple (yellow)
Update 04.17.2012: I received this in the mail today (along with some stuff I ordered for the BF) and I loved it! It drapes very nice the yellow color is exactly as pictured on the BR website.

(1) Tova patent sandals, size 7, in both black and bronzed clay. So happy to discover the bronzed clay color back in stock since I like neutral colors. I purchased them more to try on since I haven't see any fit reviews and I was really curious.
Update 04.18.2012: They arrived in the mail today. Yay for fast shipping. Unfortunately, I did not like these at all. I knew it just taking them out of the box. I found both pairs to be very wide. They make your feet appear wider and were overall not flattering in either color. There's too much strap and the black patent is an even bigger offender than the neutral color. The length is TTS but not the width of the straps. I also compared the sole of the sandals to my size 7 J.Crew flip flops. Compared to the flip flops the Tova sandals are just slightly smaller in width but the the straps make the shoe appear really wide. Alas, the search for the perfect summer sandal continues...

Michael Kors
(1)  Astor Bangle in silver - purchased in store. My first MK purchase ever and I love it!

(1) Review of Zara Tulip Dress from last week's post.
(2) Measurements for the Bow Doubt About It Dress with alternations complete and 'Buy Now' button now available!
(3) Prices updated for the Tory Burch Elizabella Sandals, Cats in Space Dress, and Dapper Doves Dress.
