I feel like I’ve been chasing my shadow lately. Actually I just had a rough time transitioning from the last day of the fiscal year into my “vacation.” During the month of June I was constantly running to and from places, making to-do lists (that I never quite finished) and I even managed to run out the door with my dress on backwards.
Last week, I was on vacation visiting my family in PA. In the tradition of bringing something home, I bought my mom this cute solar powered toy.
It’s so kawaii that I think I may need one for myself. Sadly, my very first
Nohonhon died a very painful death in the back of my car. First, it contracted
sun burn from the dangerous UV rays and then it was swiftly beheaded in an epic car
detailing. I barely drive my car so I figure I don’t need to clean it as
often (I may need to rethink this theory).
One of the prettiest things I saw this time around was this beautiful doe. I saw her two days in a row in the nearby woods. The second day we sighted it I tried to pick it up and was promptly rejected. Things also took a downward spiral from this point forth. 🙁
By Sunday night I realized that I caught a cold. I had the chills despite the hot weather (100+ degrees Farenheit). Armed with some extra strength Tylenol to fight my newly acquired germs, nose friendly tissues, and warm socks I proceeded to make myself as publicly unacceptable as possible for the next few days (of course my family loves me no matter what I wear). I managed to fill up two trash cans with my tissues and acquired a pitiful raspy voice that had everyone feeling sorry for me.
A few days into my “cold”, I had an epiphany courtesy of mom and we realized that I was now suffering from allergies (even though it’s no longer spring) and Benadryl quickly became my new best friend. I milked a lot of trips to this frozen yogurt place, my mom spoiled me and stocked up on my favorite ice cream (Mochi Mochi) and my sister shared what is now my new favorite green tea gelato. Since I was still not 100% by July 4th, my mom also spoiled me with some of my favorite foods for dinner:
I did manage to go to the mall (because a shopaholic’s vacation is never complete without some shopping) and I got this mint H&M dress (kind of see through) and Longchamp Balzane bag (on sale at Bloomingdale’s for 50% off):
I hope everyone had a good time getting wrinkly at the beach while I hugged my (thunder) buddy.
Here are some obligatory outfit pictures that I took from Instagram between my last post and this post:
Have a great week and stay cool!
beautiful outfits! love the mint and the striped dresses! xxhttp://www.theprovocativecouture.com/
Thanks Alina! 🙂
cuteeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee i love all of your OOTD's they're so cute!! i hope you're feeling better hon.. i had awful allergies when we were living in san antonio last summer.. i got a raging cold and fever.. and my husband said i was the only person he knew that could get that sick in 110 degree weather.. turns out i had developed allergies and it turned into like a post nasal drip or something crazy.. heh.. allergies. who knew?! but boy your mom sure whipped you up some yummie things.. her dishes look delish!!
Thanks Lisa. 🙂 I am much better but lagging nasal drip that sounds awful when I blow my nose. So awful I go to the bathroom when I need to "empty" my nose. Too much information but whatever. lol
I love all of your outfits too – I'm still jealous of that ModCloth top that you and Jean have and have been searching for that H&M dress! I don't know if they have it yet in California 🙁 I'll keep an eye out for those bears for you, I saw a bunch of them around in Japan along with rabbits, etc – I'm sure there are places to find them!xx
Thanks Katherine! I've worn the top and dry cleaned it twice so far. Who knows it may end up on my blog sale in the future since I am fickle about my clothes.I bought mine at an H&M back home in PA. I had asked Annie of StylishPetite.com if she wanted one too but she already had the paisley version. Let me know if you'd like me to give you a shout out the next time I happen across this dress (do you wear size 2 too) or something else you like if you can't find it where you are.No worries about the bears. I really liked your little souvenir bears because in my head they already have names (Conrad the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th)… hehe
The gift you got your mom is so cute! Other than getting allergies, I hope your family trip was very fun 🙂 Of course, all your outfits are great, especially your orange/white combo!Love reading your well written posts and your thoughtful comments…so glad I stumbled upon your blog Jess!!xoxo Jcai
Thanks Jess! It was a good vacation since I was amongst family. Can't ask for much more. My little sister who is 5'7 borrowed my orange fishy top (she always borrows at least one shirt while I'm back).I'm glad you found me too! It's nice to come across fellow bloggers with helpful tips, whose style you can relate to or whose style inspires you to try something different.
Hi, there I'm glad I came across your blog. Love your style. I love your new Longchamp bag. I would like to ask you how you like the bag. I am considering getting it. The only concern is that it looks a little bit big (I am only 92lb, 5'2). Would you recommend the bag?
Hi there,Thanks for visiting and taking the time to leave a nice comment. :)I love the bag's gorgeous leather but one thing I dislike is how the front magnetic button just comes undone if you put too much stuff in it. >.< It doesn't bother me too much and love the bag's other qualities such as the spaciousness as well as the number of pockets/compartments. It is a bit bigger than all of my other bags but the slouchiness of it doesn't make it seem too big (I'm 5'2 1/4" and about 103-109 lbs) especially if I wear heels. I used to be your weight in high school and the same height. Since you're more slender than me, try to order it from a website that allows hassle free returns if it doesn't work out.Hope that helps. Let me know how you like it in real life.
Love it, can't wait to see what you do next! Come check out my blog, maybe we can follow each other! Material Fixations
Thanks for stopping by my blog and taking the time to comment. I checked out your blog and it's very avant-garde. I loved the LV fashion show centered around the white carousel and I felt like Zara and other retailers took a page from LV with the pastel/lace embroidered tops and dresses. :)xo,Jess
