I’ve been taking a break from social media since I’ve under the weather all week trying to get over a nagging cough that became more painful the more I coughed. I must have picked up a nasty virus last weekend because I hardly ever get sick. My husband thought I could use some retail therapy to cheer me up yesterday so I finally got a chance to check out the sale in person. The college students are coming back to town from all over the world so usually lots of people get sick around this time of year.

Ann Taylor Paisley Top, size XS regular (updated review here)
Ann Taylor Devin Tailored Ponte Leggings, size 2P
This paisley top is my favorite item I tried on but the store I visited didn’t have petites. Out of curiosity I tried on size XS regular which fits me really well even though it looked really boxy on the hanger. I carry a measuring tape on me and size XS regular has a 36″ bust, 37″ along the bottom hem and 20.5″ total length. It’s 100% polyester but the care instructions say dry clean only so I didn’t get it yet. I’ve been able to wash a few other items that were 100% polyester despite the dry cleaning suggestion without any mishaps like this brushed dash shift dress I reviewed here. If I keep thinking about the top then I may have to pop into my local store to grab one tomorrow. I also grabbed the Devin tailored ponte leggings to try and size 2P has a 28″ waist so they run about one size bigger. The material was really stretchy and comfortable but I thought they were too form fitting. I also didn’t like the exposed zipper on one side.

Ann Taylor Mosaic Flare Dress, size 0P
Next up is this mosaic flare dress which looked pretty unique on the model in the stock image but the cut and pattern was not at all flattering for my figure. Size 0P has a 27″ waist so it didn’t do anything to distract from my belly which is my problem area. I also thought the mosaic pattern looked more dated in person.

Ann Taylor Cotton Sateen Sheath Dress, size 0P (sold out online)
Ann Taylor Pearlized Bar Pendant Necklace
I spotted this cotton sateen sheath dress in the sales rack and I believe it’s sold out online. The coral color is really pretty and it seemed promising but I found that the pleats on the waist were very unflattering so I passed on the dress. Size 0P has a 28″ waist so it runs about one size bigger.
My husband and I also went to Banana Republic to check out their Friend & Family event for 50% off 5 items. You can also get 40% off your entire purchase at their Factory stores. I ended up with 3 coupon codes and I used the online codes to order some classic fit non-iron dress shirts for my husband since they’re his favorite shirts for work. We also found some more shirts for him in store and we stocked up on his favorite tumbled Italian leather belt. This year’s version of the belt has less extra length at the end so it’s more flattering.

Banana Republic Textured Knit Boyfriend Blazer, size 0P
Banana Republic Striped Drapey Pocket Tee, size XSP
Banana Republic Indigo Skinny Jeans, size 26/2P (review here)
I tried on size 0P of this textured knit boyfriend blazer but the sleeves were slightly too short for me and they didn’t look quite right cuffed since there is no lining. Some may find the sleeves too narrow/tight but they fit me okay. The jacket is soft and less structured than a typical blazer but I wasn’t sure how often I’d reach for it so I ended up passing. The striped drapey pocket tee is a very oversized fit so I would recommend sizing down. I noticed that it received negative reviews online for the quality but in person the quality and fabric seemed okay. I also tried on the indigo skinny jeans in 2P (I own a pair from last year in 25/0P) and I think this year’s version is thinner and a little bit more stretch. The petite length was about 2-3″ too long for me so I cuffed it once in the above pictures. For reference, I’m 5’2 1/4″ and prefer at 26.5″ inseam. I ended up ordering a few sizes of the washed indigo skinny jeans to try.

Shein White Black Plaid Short Sleeve Chiffon Blouse, size S (c/o, similar here)
Banana Republic Indigo Denim Leggings, size 0/25 short (old/sold out style, review here)
Ann Taylor Mini Pebbled Signature Tote (review of white version here, current version here)
J.Crew Elsie Pumps With Enamel Heel in kraft brown (review here)
This is the only real outfit I wore this week since I worked from home the remainder of the week to keep my germs to myself. The grid print top is very on trend. I also love this H&M version. There is a short lining they sewed around the front and back of the round collar that you can sort of see since the material since top is slightly sheer. I also noticed that their stock image shows a vertical dart on the shoulders that wasn’t present in the top I received and the pattern on the sleeves are not symmetrical as pictured.
Size S measurements are as follows:
13″ shoulders
34″ bust
37″ circumference along the bottom hem
23.5″ total length
My hips are currently around 35″ so the top isn’t as flowy as I’d prefer. If you’re interesting in ordering this top I’d say size S fits more like size XS. It also looks really cute tucked into a black skirt since I showed a peek of the top on my snapchat (username: whatjesswore) about two weeks ago.
