Banana Republic is having 40% off your purchase. I love this check cropped top I got from them last week which I paired with a windowpane non-iron shirt I bought last year (similar here, here and here). This adorable check print is also available in a burgundy (black rose) color and a midi skirt.
I got this Cece plaid scarf for 40% off tonight. I had reserved it online and I’m so glad I did since it sold out quickly in store. I like that it’s not too thick which is my usual gripe with blanket scarves since it’s really uncomfortable to wear an actual blanket across your neck. A lot of blanket scarves are made using thick boiled wool which is a texture I don’t really care for. I received this scarf I ordered from Nordstrom but it quickly went back for this reason. I’ve been pretty obsessed with tying my blanket scarves using this Pinterest tutorial (last seen in this post). I also like this Sophie scarf in the seaweed color but all three colors are equally lovely.
Ann Taylor is offering 50% off everything in stores and online (excludes suiting and cashmere). Use code FALL50. Sale ends Monday 10/26 12AM ET. Shop my sales picks here:
I saw this tweed fringe jacket online and had to stop by in store to try it on. Size 0P fits me really well and it has a more feminine cut than the collarless tipped jacket I reviewed here. I wish they offered this jacket in other colors. It’s still $89.50 with the sale and I already have a similar jacket from Zara so I passed for now. If you liked my Zara tweed jacket there’s another similar jacket from J.Crew Factory here.
J.Crew Excursion Quilted Down Vest, size XSP
J.Crew is having 25% off select full-price styles plus 40% off final sale styles. Use code SALETREAT. I’ve been neglecting J.Crew for a few years except for their outerwear and somehow I missed when they started carrying petites in store. My local store had the Petites Shop and when I asked the sales associate she said they’ve been carrying petites for a year now. I tried on a few things for size starting with this excursion quilted down vest in size XSP which fit me really well. I tried on regular XXS in the factory version last year which also fit me well and has a slightly longer length.
I also tried on this boy shirt in navy size 0P and I like the longer length. I ordered the factory version which was similar but the material was slightly thinner and there was a huge gap in the chest between the second and third buttons. I have an old J.Crew gingham shirt from 2011 but it became a bit snug around my waist and hips since I’m not as slender anymore. I tried on these toothpick jeans in 25P and my height and weight are similar to the current online reviewer. However, I didn’t love these jeans on me at all because the knees bunched a lot on me and the leg opening isn’t as tapered as I prefer. The petite length hits above my ankle bone so they’re about 1″ shorter than my preferred pant inseam. They have a lot of stretch so I was contemplating trying on size 24P but I was too lazy to grab another size and the sales associate wasn’t available. I originally tried on size 26P but they were very baggy all over.
I received the crewcuts girls’ powder puffer down coat which I ordered in size 14 and the sizing is very generous so it should fit someone up to 5’3″ and 115 pounds. The sleeves were a bit long on me as well but that’s not a bad problem to have for the winter when longer sleeves are usually a good thing against the wind. The material was super soft and the heirloom grey color was a lovely lavender grey in person. Unfortunately, the coat made me feel like the Michelin man. I tried to cinch the bow belt as much as possible but it didn’t do much to give the coat more shape since my figure is pretty straight up and down. I could see the jacket being a lot more flattering on someone with a bit more curves so that your figure doesn’t get swallowed up by this style. If you’re petite and sometimes order crewcuts then I would recommend going down a size from your usual size. I think size 12 would have fit me better but I am going to pass on this coat for now. I came across this adorable factory version of the wool bow coat and I am contemplating the turquoise color but I probably don’t need another coat that is more cute than functional. It’s also currently backordered.
