Spurred by LOFT‘s latest sale I visited my local store today to check out the sizing on a few items on my wishlist. Please refer to my previous post for sale details including an extra 25% off Insider code. Here are my latest fitting room reviews:
LOFT Lace Bib Poet Blouse, size XS regular
I spotted this lace bib poet blouse the other day paired with another item but it wasn’t yet available to purchase online until yesterday. I could only find size XS regular to try on in stores which had a loose, wide fit so the extra material will bunch up on the sides if you try to tuck it into a skirt for example. It has long sleeves but I prefer the look of rolled up sleeves as pictured above. The fabric is sheer so a layering cami is recommended. I’d say this blouse runs about one size larger but will be a loose fit in your usual size. I’m tempted to order size XXS regular before it sells out.
LOFT One Button Cardigan, size XS regular
I also found this one button cardigan in XS regular and since I didn’t have a more appropriate top to pair it with I tried it on over the lace bib poet blouse. It’s the perfect lightweight cardigan to go over spring and summer sleeveless outfits and I’d say it runs true to size.
LOFT Illusion Shift Skirt, size 00 regular
LOFT outerwear is usually a miss for me so I wasn’t going to try on this essential trench but I decided to try on size 00P after assessing it on the hanger. I like the back storm flap with the button detail (some trench coats don’t have a button so the storm flap billows out too much), the epaulets with button details on the shoulders and sleeves and the inverted back pleat. The fabric is a nice weight so it doesn’t look like it will wrinkle terribly. As far as sizing goes, this trench runs at least one size bigger because size 00P was still a lot of material when worn buttoned and belted as you can see in the below right picture. The extra material bunches at my waist when belted so I think this trench looks best worn open/unbuttoned. For reference I have a 27-28″ waist and wear size 25/0P in LOFT denim (please refer to my measurements here). The petite sleeves in 00P are bracelet length on me which is normal since I usually take 23″ sleeves so I would say the sleeves in this size are around 22″.
I also tried on this illusion shift skirt in size 00 regular and it fits smaller than the usual LOFT sizing but true to size since 00 regular usually translates to a 24″ waist in numeric sizing. Size 00 regular has a 24″ waist and sat high on my waist which meant that the hem hit me about mid-thigh. I may need size 0 regular for a more work appropriate length. Refer to this clip I saved from my snapchat (username: whatjesswore) here. See my review of size 0 regular here.
For my last LOFT try-on, I found this lattice split two-in-one sweater in both regular and petite sizing. Size XS petite looked like it had really slim sleeves so I tried on both small petite pictured above and XS regular which I ordered on the 28th (see it on me here). It’s a cute thin sweater for the spring to be sure but I didn’t love it on me so I’ll probably return it especially since I ordered the wrong size. I’d say this sweater runs true to size and if you’re petite I would recommend ordering the petites since the regular missy version is rather long. FYI. I get all of my goodies on Tuesday and I can’t wait to see which items work out.
While I was trying on the LOFT essential trench I made a mental note to stop by J.Crew to see if the new chateau trench coat was available in store and sure enough it was! I have the similar matinee trench in both khaki and navy, size 00 regular from 2010/2011 but the sleeves are too short so I’ve been looking for a suitable replacement before I sell them on Poshmark. The khaki color is as pictured online so apologies for the poor lighting above. I tried on both 00 regular and 0 regular. The shoulders of size 00 regular were too snug and the arms were extremely slim even though I had a fairly thin shirt. I then tried on size 0 regular which fit me a lot more comfortably but the sleeves were too long although you can fold them to show the pretty gingham print as shown in their online stock image.
I also stopped by Ann Taylor since they have 50% off to check out the modern super skinny jeans and I found them in the deco wash (above) and the island sand (below). This style is also available in white and carnival wash which are both on my wishlist. I tried on both jeans in size 0P which is also my usual size for jeans at LOFT. I look for narrow leg openings for my skinny jeans so I preferred the look of the denim wash over the khaki fabric which kicked out a bit more at the ends. The deco wash came home with me since they’re really soft and stretchy. Size 0P measurements are as follows:
9″ leg opening
