This past weekend was extremely cold with below freezing temperatures in Boston. My husband offered to take my blog photos but after stepping outside I quickly retreated back to the car. He still managed to snap a few photos on his iPhone (27 to be exact). I shared 2 above where I’m not making funny faces or have my hair plastered against my face. As for our movie dates, we both enjoyed Deadpool which was hilarious but Zoolander 2 was disappointing. I know he fell asleep for a little bit of Zoolander 2. haha I was feeling a little sleepy myself. I thought that the sequel was missing key funny scenes and quotes that made the first movie so memorable.

Valentine's Breakfast

Valentine’s Day breakfast with hubby

On Saturday we went to Costco and picked up some roses and tulips (not pictured). I was worried that all the good flowers would be gone and picked over if we went on Sunday. The next morning I made breakfast and I burnt half of my portion of the cinnamon french toast since I was essentially trying to keep watch over many cut up strips of toast across three pans. My husband was none the wiser since I gave him all the good pieces. I wish I had thick milk bread for the toast but I can only seem to find it at Asian bakeries such as Paris Baguette. To make the flower shaped apples I used a fruit cutter like this one. While I was preparing breakfast my husband caught me eating the excess pieces of apples that I was cutting with the fruit shapers but I really don’t like to waste food. I usually use my set to shape vegetables such as carrots for stir fry and the apples were a challenge to cut due to the thickness and uneven shapes.

On Monday I got around to cleaning our condo instead of going out since I had the day off for President’s Day. I also meant to sort my old clothes in the cleanup bag I received from Thredup (use the code 40NP on your first order for additional savings) but it seemed like a daunting task so I’ll save it for an upcoming weekend. I placed my first order with some credits they gave me and I had a hard time narrowing down which items to pick since they have so many new with tag or like new items. I’ll do an updated post soon but Megan has been raving about her Thredup finds so I’m glad I was given the opportunity to try a few new-to-me items.

I use the penny trick to keep my roses nice and fresh but I think the penny is doing strange things to my tulips. I wonder if this is what will happen to them. It’s now day 4 and my tulips still haven’t fully opened yet. Costco roses are my favorite at $15.99 for a dozen and if you trim the stems and change the water every few days then they should last over a week. A few remaining choice blooms lasted about two weeks last year before I had to discard them.

LOFT Denim Leggings in Authentic Indigo Wash, size 25/0P

Sorel Joan of Arctic Wedge Boot in cafe (now $179.90 via Sorel’s website, similar kettle color)

As I mentioned in a previous post, I picked up size XS regular in the drapey ponte tee in whisper white. The arms are a tad snug and to be honest the top seems a bit more boxy in white even though I got it in a smaller size than the black one (last seen here). I originally purchased two pairs of the denim leggings in authentic indigo wash but they’re more stiff than the stretchy material that their other denim leggings are made of. I ended up returning the extra pair since they’re not as comfortable as the other pairs I own and love. The vivid dark indigo wash (review here) is still my favorite wash and I would also recommend the black version pictured at the top of my post.

Thanks for reading and have a great rest of the week!
