Banana Republic Fitting Room Reviews

Happy hump day! I took these Banana Republic fitting room pictures almost a month ago and totally forgot about them.

Banana Republic Striped Cotton Shirtdress, size 2P

I tried on this striped cotton shirtdress in size 2P since it looks like it fit smaller and I'd say it fits true to size in the waist (I have a 27" waist and 33" hips). I personally found the torso a bit long in petites and the sleeves were a bit tight on my forearms when rolled up. If you want a shorter length as pictured on the stock image and are of average height then you may want to give the petite version a try. I'm 5' 2 1/2" and the skirt portion hit above my kneecaps while the shirttail hem hits a few inches above my knees as you can see from the side profile picture on the right.

Banana Republic Foulard Flounce Dress, size 0P

This foulard flounce dress is such a gorgeous print and I'm trying on the preppy navy print pictured here. Size 0P fit me really well with a loose fit that skims and flatters the figure. The dress is on the shorter side since it's a few inches above my knees.

Banana Republic Floral Cap-Sleeve Dress, size 0P

This floral cap-sleeve dress is adorable but the larger floral print may not be everyone's cup of tea. I showed my husband and he called this a Flintstone dress. I tried on size 0P and it's hard to tell from the pictures but the empire waist is really roomy so I would suggest going down a size. I always forget that my sizing recommendations are from the viewpoint of someone with a small chest so if you have a larger bust then you may want to stick to your usual BR size. I tried on size 00P in this post and realized that this dress comes with pockets!

Banana Republic Lace-Stripe Top, size XS regular
LOFT Denim Leggings in black, size 25/0P
Tory Burch Sullivan boots (old review here, now available in suede)

This lace-stripe top is so gorgeous with the adorable stripe details made up of circle eyelet lace but the fit is very boxy. I also found it slightly difficult to get this top on and off even with the buttons in the back that you can undo to slip it on over your head. It would have been perfect if they had designed a hidden zipper on one side under the armpit on one side. The regular sizing may be worth trying on if you're petite especially if you prefer the extra length. I have a smaller chest so the bust darts didn't really work for me. I tried on size XS regular which fits similar to a LOFT size 2P.

Banana Republic Ruffle Pullover Sweater, size M

I saw this adorable ruffle pullover sweater on another blogger and it looked so good on her I finally decided to pay Banana a visit. Online reviews suggest that it runs small and I would have to agree. I tried on size M regular in both red and cocoon which is definitely ivory in person but I noticed a huge sizing discrepancy as you can see in this photo. The red color was much shorter than the cocoon color. It's also a thicker material so I felt that it made me feel like I gained a few pounds as soon as I put it on. If you prefer a more form fitting fit then I would suggest going up one size. If you prefer a more relaxed fit then you may need to go up two sizes. Since it's meant to be a cropped fit I only tried on the regular missy sizing instead of petites for the extra length but I don't think this sweater is for me. The ruffle details were overwhelming on my shoulders/frame.

Banana Republic Ruffle-Trim Sweatshirt, size S regular

Lastly, I tried on this ruffle-trim sweatshirt in size S regular. This top fits like a thin sweater and the material is slightly see through in the cocoon color. The ruffle details across one shoulder are really cute but I would probably need size XS regular for a better fit. I haven't seen it pop back in stock online but you can also check the in-store reservation feature on their website. I see that a few of my local stores have my size and the color I want so I may reserve it to try on the smaller size.

I'm coveting quite a few pieces from Banana's new collection and hopefully they will have a good sale with no exclusions soon. Luxe cardmembers get 50% off 5 full-price items in-stores and online. Exclusions apply. Check your inbox for your unique, one time use discount code! You must use your Luxe card as the payment method. This sale starts 3/10 and runs through 3/13.

I noticed that the following sales just went live after midnight EST:

LOFT - Get 40% off select full-price styles and an extra 40% off all sale styles. Lou & Grey exclusions apply. Valid in stores and online. Since no code is needed for this current promotion you can use the stackable code INSIDER556 online for an additional 25% off full-price purchases of $100+.
