I can’t believe that it’s almost Thanksgiving! Last week I was in Philly with my family since my little sister’s wedding was this past Saturday. Now I’m back in town and getting our place ready for a long weekend of eating and family time.
I wore this neutral outfit a few times and I live in this cowl neck sweater (review here) which has washed well on cold and air dried. I also love this pom-pom scarf (now $24.50 at J.Crew Factory). I’ve had it for a few weeks and I did lose a pom pom last week. Luckily I spotted the fallen pom pom and picked it up so I’ll be able reattach it. There are so many of these soft pom poms along the hem which adds to the fun, whimsical look of what would otherwise be yet another plaid scarf.
I ordered the black classic buffalo color for my mom last week when J.Crew Factory had the flash sale for 50% off plus free shipping and she received it today. It wasn’t really a deal because I remember that the black classic buffalo and navy green blackwatch colors were both $19.50 prior to the “sale”. It bugs me that J.Crew Factory does this type of pricing strategy online. I want the black classic buffalo color too but I hope to find it at my local store for less.

I tried on these two lace tops per Risa’s request in the comments of my previous post. The smaller size was sold out in this long sleeve lace top so I tried on size S regular to assess the sizing. I’d say it fits true to size so I’d probably need this pretty top in my usual size XXS regular or XSP. Size XS regular would also fit me but it would be a more relaxed fit.
LOFT Stained Glass Lace Tee, size XS regular
I saw this top online but I didn’t think I would like this stained glass lace tee so I never tried it on until Risa’s request. It has a very wide/boxy fit so I would prefer this top in my usual size XXS regular. The petite version looks short and wide as you can see here on the thin mannequin although it could be due to the size they put on in order to dress it up. The bow sash in the back is surprisingly nice detail and it ties easily and lays well.
LOFT Stitched Stripe Sweater in minty heather, size XS regular
I ordered this textured sweater in grape jelly heather and I found size XS regular to try on in store so I could find out (in advance) if I purchased the right size online. I’d say this sweater fits true to size and has a relaxed but flattering fit.

I tried on this peplum sweater which is now available in a navy colorway. It’s by far one of my favorite and most worn tops from last year so I also own this year’s version in the grey colorway. Size XS regular fits the same as the grey one. I prefer the relaxed fit of size XS regular as well as the missy size’s overall length. The sleeves can be snug for some due to the fabric which doesn’t have a lot of stretch.

See size XXS regular on me in the puffin print here and the windowpane print here. I got the starry print last year (review here and seen here) which fits a bit wider than this year’s version for the top/shirt. Size XXS regular runs one size bigger and fits more like XS regular. I really wish that LOFT would offer their sleepwear in petites. Note that the puffins are printed onto the fabric instead of being part of the material so they may fade over time especially if you put them in the dryer. Of the two prints I like the windowpane print best but I am keeping both since I live in my pajamas. I ordered them when they were 40% off in order to secure my size.
LOFT Faux Fur Pom Pom Keychain
Aside from cold weather accessories and sleepwear, LOFT also carries cute accessories for gift ideas this holiday season. Above is what the faux fur pom poms look like in real life. They appear to be of decent quality if you’ve been meaning to pick up one for your bag and they are available in four colors.

I ordered this cozy cowl sweater tunic in size XS regular after seeing it on Tracey of My Secret Lookbook here. She is a fellow, LOFT loving petite and she’s 5’2″ (I’m 5′ 2 1/4″). I am always amazed by how tall and lean she looks in her photos. She has some of the best, basic outfit ideas that are easy to recreate at affordable prices! Refer to this video clip for a better look of the fit of this sweater on me. I also ordered the sateen leggings in whisper white since I loved the grey color (review here) so much.
Here are a few quick updates on a few items from my recent LOFT purchases:
- Mockneck Sweater (review here) – This sweater has not washed well even though I washed it in cold and air dried it. It’s likely due to the higher wool content (25%). It now feels a bit shorter in the overall length and it also pills badly after a few wears so a sweater shaver is essential. It may be best to dry clean this sweater if you love the fit in order to retain the overall fit/length.
- Relaxed Peplum Top (review here) – The material they used for this peplum top is prone to slight pilling. Otherwise this top has washed well and retained it’s relaxed fit and length. It’s 77% polyester, 19% rayon and 4% spandex.
- Striped Shirttail Open Cardigan – I ordered the striped cardigan in SP since I loved the grey one (review here, last seen here) which I own in XS regular. Unfortunately the petite equivalent size (SP = XS regular) is actually longer and fits larger than the regular missy size in this striped material. I will be returning it and I’m unsure if I love it enough to repurchase it in XSP (update 12/3/16 – see a review of size XSP here). Sometimes it’s best to stick to the color I purchased in the first place but I learn this the hard way.

I tried on this long field jacket last week since I am always curious how size XXS fits at J.Crew. They have such extreme vanity sizes available these days (e.g. XXXS) . The straight/narrow fit doesn’t work for layering underneath since I couldn’t comfortably zip it up with my vest on. It’s a good fall jacket if you live somewhere with mild winters. I found the overall length ever so slightly too long so I passed on this jacket.

I watched Marnie Goldberg’s YouTube review and decided it was worth trying after researching other brands. I had about the same first time experience as Marnie fumbling with where things were on the device despite reading the instructions. Be careful to keep the recommended distance from your face and spray sparingly so that you don’t over apply as you will end up looking shiny and splotchy. The coverage will build up slowly despite the sheer coverage.
