I love the attention to detail in this year’s LOFT summer collection and I realized that I’ve been picking up a lot of pieces with eyelet and embroidered details. When I put on this outfit I ended up swapping out the Zara gold slides in my flatlay for more neutral flats. Less is more and the eyelet and pom pom details on this pale blue top are so classy and feminine. I have been favoring minimalist outfits I can easily throw together without feeling the need to accessorize.

I was inspired by Stitch Fix flatlay cards when I laid down the shorts versus pants option to go with this pretty blue blouse. The darker stitching around the cutouts makes the details pop even more. I love how @kaitlin.hughes paired the top with bold statement earrings.

This medallion skirt was love at first sight! I love the beautiful red stitching and the playful scallop hem. I wish the skirt was longer (I still have yet to try on 0 or 00 regular) but the shorter length really shows off your legs. It’s the perfect skirt for date night. Size 0P has a 28″ waist and 16.5″ total length.
If you have a penchant for eyelet like me then wait until you see the floral eyelet top I review below! It’s new to stores first and hopefully it will be available for purchase online after this sale ends. I’m hoping it comes in petites.

FITTING ROOM REVIEWS
Last weekend I stopped by two of my local LOFT stores plus Ann Taylor so I have lots of new fitting room reviews to share with you!
LOFT Mixed Stripe Sleeveless Swing Dress, size XXSP

I love the mix of vertical stripes at the yoke of the dress and the thicker material drapes well. I first tried it on in XSP but it was a slightly loose on me so I found size XXSP at another store which fit me much better. I love the overall length which hits right above the knee on me.

If you’re looking for a cropped denim jacket I would highly recommend this one which I happened to come across in size XXSP. XXSP is snug but still comfortable on me (I have 14″ shoulders). I’d say this jacket fits true to size and my True Fit profile recommends size XSP which would be better for layering purposes. I found this to be a medium wash versus a darker wash and there are no distressed details making this jacket a timeless cut and style that will be a well loved closet staple. I wish more retailers made cropped denim jackets since it’s very difficult to find a good one for petites that doesn’t hit at an awkward length.

I really wanted to love this white blazer but I don’t like the longer length and pocket placement. The navy color at least allows the pockets to blend in more. It runs true to size to slightly bigger in petites since I’m normally 0P but size 00P fit me well. The jacket is unlined so if you pair it with something with a pattern you’ll see it through the material (refer to the right photo where you can see the stripes through the jacket). Update 10/4: This blazer is now available in black!

I am not usually a fan of large statement sleeves but the sleeves on this bell sleeve top aren’t too voluminous. Size XS regular was really puffy on me (refer to the right photo) so I would need this top in size XXSP. I’d say it runs one to two sizes bigger depending on how tight you prefer the smocked portion to fit across your chest.
LOFT Denim Flip Cuff Shorts in White, size 24/00 regular
My love for white denim maturally extends to white shorts so of course I had to have these cuffed shorts. My usual size 24/00 in LOFT shorts fit me really well. I love that the leg openings aren’t too wide for my chicken legs.
LOFT Floral Eyelet Off The Shoulder Top, size XS regular
This floral eyelet top is so adorable in person! I found size XS regular to try on which fits me really loose (as seen here) so I hope it comes in petites when it becomes available for purchase online. This top is currently new to stores first but it should be available soon (hopefully after this latest online promotion ends). I’d say this top fits at least one size bigger.
LOFT Sun Garden Swing Dress, size XS regular
I wanted to like this swing dress but it was too puffy on me in XS regular. The fabric is similar to the one they used for the shimmer floral flounce dress which I ended up returning since I decided it was too big on me. I suggest going down at least one if not two sizes in this dress due to the swingy style and extra fabric. This print is also available as a top and skirt an the skirt is my favorite of the three options.

Here is the dress with the cinched sleeve blazer again. I really wish the pocket flaps weren’t there.
LOFT Mixed Media Pleated Sleeve Tee, size XS regular
I spotted this tee on the tables and I was about to pass on it but I tried it on anyway. The material feels really thin so I’m not sure it would last long but I love how it drapes. They grey color is not see through. It has a very relaxed fit and my True Fit Profile suggests size XXSP which means it runs one to two sizes bigger.

I’ve been wanting this abstract scarf for a while so I bought it during my recent LOFT style even with a few of my coworkers. I get cold in the office so I love wearing neutral scarves as shawls to keep my arms and legs warm.
LOFT Striped Cold Shoulder Shift Dress, size 0P
My local LOFT pulled out this new arrival during our style event and I tried it on for fun. It’s unlined but not see through and it fits true to size to slightly loose due to the shift style. The cold shoulders don’t make your shoulders look too broad. You can see this dress on the lovely @shannonnnicole.
LOFT Dot Embroidered Tassel Swing Dress, size XXSP
I tried on this dress in size XS regular in this post and I found size XSP and XXSP to try on for comparison. The smaller arm holes and v-neck in the petite sizes didn’t flatter me so I passed on this dress. It’s a really cute dress but it does run one size bigger in petites. The regular missy size is somehow more flattering and lays better across the bust.

LOFT Relaxed Utility Jacket (oldie but goodie)
I tried on this striped romper for fun and I found it to be a bit short and awkward where it hit me in the waist in petites. I would need this in size 00 regular for a longer overall length. The spaghetti straps are adjustable and it has pockets! It’s meant to have a skimpy fit (with possible side boob issues) so you will not like this romper if you prefer more coverage. I admittedly wouldn’t feel comfortable wearing this romper without an outer layer so I’ll have to pass.
LOFT Gingham Cuffed Shorts, size 24/00 regular
LOFT Peplum Shell, size XXSP
I saw these gingham shorts on @kerriemburke and I didn’t realize they were from LOFT until I saw them in store. They fit really big and my online True Fit profile actually says that they’re not available in my recommended size which is very telling. Size 24/00 felt at least one full size bigger in the waist. I also tried it on with the peplum shell which is very sheer and thin in white and it runs big since size XXSP felt like size XS regular.

The eyelet detail on these yellow shorts are gorgeous but the pockets show through way too much. The shorts felt true to my usual size 24/00 in the waist. This fringe yoke tee is cute but the length is very long on me so I would need to size down. Worn against the yellow shorts you can see how sheer the material is in the white color of this top.

This cargo jacket must have been an online return. I found size XSP to try and it fit me very loose making it perfect for fall layering. It’s a great jacket if you can find it but I found the large collar to be overwhelming on me. Refer to this clip for another view of the fit on me.

I love the pretty lace trim details on this tee but it does run one size bigger so I would need it in size XXSP. It’s also available in white and grey both of which are currently sold out.

How fun is this tropical print top? Size XS regular fit true to size and it was only slightly loose so I would prefer it in size XXS ore XSP for the best fit and shorter length. It’s also available in black and white (note: white was very sheer when I tried it on).

I love the fit of these jeans but I personally didn’t like the grainy wash so I passed on them. The inseam is one inch longer than I prefer so I cuffed them once. The waist fit true to my usual size at Ann Taylor for their denim.
Ann Taylor Leaf Lace Flare Sleeve Shift Dress, size 0P
The color of this lace dress is so vibrant in person! Size 0P was too loose and shapeless and size 00P fit me better in the body but the flounce sleeves were awkward and jutted out so I passed. It could have just been the particular dress I tried. If you love right colors for summer I would try on this dress and try going down a size for a better fit.

Ann Taylor The Portofino Pant, size 0P
I took my usual size 0P in pants at Ann Taylor for these linen blend pants since 00P was too snug. I also wore this outfit to work today and found that they get really wrinkly at the hips after a full day’s wear. They also stretch out in the rear by the end of the day. They look amazing (sans creases) if you know you’ll be doing more standing than sitting. I’m wearing them with flats here and for reference I’m 5’2 1/4″. I didn’t free the pockets which come sewn shut because doing so tends to be unflattering and makes my hips look even wider.

LOFT Modern Fresh Cut Skinny Jeans in white, size 25/0 petite
I saw this sleeveless top in store and ordered it when I got home. I received size XSP today but it’s a bit loose on me so I will reorder it in XXSP. It is a thicker polyester material so it’s only slightly sheer depending on what bottoms you wear it with. It’s an off white color and not a bright white unlike the new white jeans I just picked up from LOFT.
It’s hard to tell but these jeans have a unfinished (cut) hem. The regular size is the perfect ankle length on me and the ankle opening is really narrow for a lengthening effect. I actually like the slightly higher rise on these white jeans better compared to the Ann Taylor pair (review here) which sit lower on my hips. The front pocket lining is slightly see through but I always wear longer tops so it doesn’t bother me. (I ordered a similar pair from J Brand to trye with the same issue but for $172 I wasn’t going to settle for anything so I returned them.) The LOFT pair has more stretch which equals more comfort compared to the Ann Taylor pair which can be a bit more constricting on my legs/calves.
