I hope everyone had a great weekend! We had a good time with family this weekend since my husband's family was in town so it was a treat to eat out since we've been trying to eat in more. I got this feminine dress in the mail and I couldn't wait to style it. I love it with my summer sandals and the length which hits just below my knees looks great with a strappy sandals or slides. The darker floral print makes it perfect to transition into fall with a jacket over it and cute booties. Speaking of booties I still never received the Vince Camuto booties I ordered during the #nsale. I should really call Nordstrom about my order since I think they will cancel my order if I don't reach out to them.
I recently got a vintage King Asanuma tripod from my father-in-law and I used it to take the above photos. I was pretty pleased with how they turned out since I used my iPhone to take them. I've been waiting patiently for the iPhone 8 to come out but one of my phones is about to go. It's low on memory and I deleted photos to make space but I think I just dropped it one to many times since I'm so clumsy.
Zara Pompom Basket (ref no. 4828/204)
Daniel Wellington Classic Petite Melrose in rose gold (c/o)
I was doing some returns on Saturday and I spotted a few new things to try at the store I was at.
This cold shoulder tee is so soft and I love the cute ruffles on the sleeves. The fit is very relaxed around the waist so you may want to size down if you prefer a more fitted look. My online True Fit profile recommended this top for me in size XXSP but I found the sleeves of size XSP were snug on me instead of loose as seen on the model in the stock image (my upper arms have a 10" circumference). I felt that the size cutouts made my shoulders look broad so I personally passed on this top.
LOFT Ruffle Cold Shoulder Swing Dress, size XSP
I didn't give this swing dress much thought when I first saw it in store but I tried it on because I saw a few bloggers that looked really adorable in it. It's drapes nicely and fits true to size but once again the size of the cutouts for the cold shoulder style bared my shoulders in a way that wasn't very flattering.
LOFT Market Jacket, size XSP (petite item no. 444401)
This jacket is new to stores first and not yet available online. I used the item number to create the direct link to it but I've also provided the item number above in petites in case anyone is looking for it in stores. The material is thicker and warmer than the sateen utility jacket I reviewed in my previous post. I like that you can unbutton and cuff the sleeves. I found that the jacket fits true to size and the sleeves are a good length on me. It's a dark hunter green color.
Lou & Grey Drop & Roll Cardigan, size XS-S
I also tried on this cozy cardigan which is another new arrival in stores first. It's so new there's no place holder item page for me to link to so I'll keep an eye out when it becomes available. It's very cozy and perfect for fall layering in place of a jacket. It runs true to size and has an oversized/slouchy fit as intended for this style. Update 9/20: It's also available in petites as well as a darker color here!
I may regret this but I returned these distressed jeans for now because the distressed details do not hit at my knees as shown in the online stock image. It's a really nice wash and on trend for fashion jeans. I prefer ankle length jeans so I like the look of these jeans when I cuff them once.
I also ordered a few more items I wanted to see/try while everything is 40% off (use code OHYES) with select full-price items marked 50% off (no code needed, try INSIDER774 for $25 off $100+ full-price promotional merchandise or LOFT1 for $10 off $50+ for cardmembers) at LOFT. The sale ends in a few hours at 3AM ET. I was hoping they would have an online flash sale tonight but I guess in this case my gut feeling was wrong.
I also returned this lace trim tee since I didn't like the look at the neckline with a cami layered underneath. The necklace is longer and heavier than I expected so I returned it because I wasn't sure how often I would need a large floral statement piece. I love and kept the cateye sunglasses (review here) and circle drop earrings but I returned the matching necklace especially since the one I received was defective.
I had to have this captain kitty tee the moment I saw it online. I received my $25 fall rewards from J.Crew and I went to pick up this tee as soon as possible only to find that XXS and XS had sold out so I settled on size S. Su @allaboutloft also went to try on size XXS and XS and she told me that XXS fits best (she and I generally take the same size) so I may reorder it later and sell my size S which fits me a bit loose as you can see from the below pictures. Su prefers a closer fit but I think I would prefer size XS for myself.
Update 8/14: The kitty tee is now $22.42 after discounts plus free shipping using the code BIGFAN. I ordered sizes XXS and XS to compare/try.
Zara Convertible Bucket Bag (item ref no. 4788/204)
J.Crew Factory White Denim Skirt, size 00
I also tried on this white denim skirt since they intrigue me. I was surprised that the buttons don't gap which is a good thing but they made my behind look flat so I passed on this skirt. Size 00 was a bit snug on me but I believe size 0 would have been too loose. For reference, I have a 27-28 waist and 33-34" hips and I'm 5' 2.5".
J.Crew Overall Pocket Dress, size 0
Lastly, I tried on this overall pocket dress since it was on my list of things to try. Size 0 fit me well and this jumper would look great over a blouse or tee shirt. I'm waiting for a better sale online and will be keeping an eye on this piece as well as the chambray shirt I reviewed here.
I also ordered these items to try from Old Navy since I saw the heart print stripe blouse on @thepetitelawyer. I haven't ordered anything from Old Navy in a long time!
Thanks for reading!
