Happy Wednesday! I wore this outfit over the weekend when it was finally felt like shorts weather. Also you may have noticed that my hair is curled in the above photo. It’s been a few years since I attempted loose curls since I have thin hair that gets split ends easily when using a regular curling iron. I recently splurged on the Dyson Airwrap for my late birthday present since it curls with less heat than other styling tools.
OUTFIT DETAILS: LOFT Striped Pocket Open Cardigan, size XSP (review here) | Ann Taylor Scalloped Shell, size XSP (review here) | LOFT Crepe Pull On Shorts, size XXS regular (review here) | Ainifeel Women’s Genuine Leather Hobo Shoulder Bag | Leather Prince Beon the cowhide horse leather bagcharm (small size, review here) | Soludos Ibiza Classic Sneakers (review here) | Click here to view a clip of the outfit on me
I’ve been trying to get used to using the tool and I am a novice when it comes to hair so it took me about 25-30 minutes to get my hair to look decent using the 1.6″ airwrap barrels as seen here. I did not use any hair styling products, curled my hair dry (I still need to try it with semi dried hair), I also combed out all the curls after styling and my hair held the curls pretty well. The first day my husband even helped me with the back pieces but the second day went better since I sectioned my hair and did the back/bottom pieces first. I watched many positive and negative YouTube reviews (I linked to my two favorite reviews based on their thoroughness) but ultimately decided I had to try the set myself.
To be honest most of the attachments blow my fine, thin hair around creating little wispies so I only use the dryer and the airwrap barrels. I really wish the attachments were sold separately instead of all bundled together. Curling with dry hair I had to use really small sections and I have to guide the ends of my hair so that it catches at the ends and wraps itself around the airwrap barrels. I noticed that only the top half of the 1.6″ airwrap barrels have a stronger Coanda effect (it’s also possible I received a defective set).
If you’re quick and adept at using a regular curling iron I wouldn’t bother to splurge on this tool. I also wouldn’t recommend this set for thin, fine hair textures since it’s not very effective. I’m still new to using it and it takes me too much time on top of my regular morning routine still so I haven’t worn my hair curled yet at work.
Update 7/20/20: I have watched many influencers’ raving reviews of the Dyson Airwrap. However, if you watch the end of this review by Julia Berolzheimer her experience at the end where all of the curls look like they have fallen is the exact experience that I had. You can almost catch her look of annoyance that she has to “refresh” the curls so I assume she may have tried to film the tutorial more than once. The curls do not last for me and they fell out rather quickly in the summer humidity. It was honestly one of my biggest regret purchases last year.

TRY-ONS & REVIEWS
For size reference I’m 5′ 2.5″ and currently 114-115 instead of my usual 110 pounds. I’m usually size XS petite in tops and 0/25 petite in pants and jeans. If you’re new to my blog I typically share the link to a short video clip below each image (the same video clips I share in my Instagram stories swipe ups during sales). My Pinterest is also up to date if you prefer a more visual catalog of my reviews. You can also check out my other reviews organized by retailer here.
Lou & Grey Brushmarl Jumpsuit, size XXS regular | LOFT Sheer 3/4 Sleeve Cardigan in tumeric spice, size SP | LOFT Criss Cross Slingback Sandals (true to size, review here and here) | Click here to view the clip from my try-on
This grey jumpsuit runs true to size and the shorter inseam (25.5″) is an ankle skimming fit on me. I went up once size in the cardigan for a looser fit but it fits true to size if you want to take your usual size.
LOFT Tie Hem Tank, size XSP | Similar black skinny jeans here and here | Click here to view the clip from my try-on
I saw this tie hem tank in store so I ordered it in petites to try. It has a ridged texture to it and my usual size fits me well. Size XSP measures 32.5″ at the chest, 34″ along the bottom hem and 22″ total length.
LOFT Double V Sweater, size SP | Ann Taylor Shreya Scalloped Suede Flats (true to size, review here) | Click here to view the clip from my try-on
I sized up in this light blue and white stripe sweater for a looser fit. The material is thinner making it perfect for the spring and summer.
LOFT Shimmer Open Knit Sweater, size XSP | Click here to view the clip from my try-on
This is another sweater I saw in store that was very popular so I ordered it in petites to try. It’s a thin sweater that requires a layering cami. I’m afraid it would snag easily and I don’t love how the material feels against the skin so I’m leaning towards returning it.
LOFT Striped Tweed Pocket Shift Dress, size XSP | Click here and here to view the clips from my try-on
This dotted stripe dress was one of my favorite try-ons and I like the looser shift style. My usual size XSP fit me well and it has functional pockets. The material has a good weight to it and it has a nice comfortable stretch. This would be a nice conservative dress for work or church. You can also see this dress featured on @loveloft_natick.
LOFT Bouquet Flutter Shirtdress, size 0P | Click here to view the clip from my try-on
This floral print is really pretty against yellow. The dress is unlined but it’s not sheer. The waist measured 28.5″ in my usual size 0P. If you live for bold prints then you may also like this floral kimono, tie hem top or these wide leg pants.
LOFT Stripe Flutter Sleeve Tee, size XXSP | Click here to view the clip from my try-on
I tried on the stripe tee but I can’t find it online at the moment. Size XXSP fits like my usual size XSP.
LOFT Striped Button Down Flare Dress, size 2P | Ann Taylor Lanie Colorblock Leather Slingback Pump (true to size, review here) | Click here to view the clip from my try-on
I like this striped button down dress and tried on size 2P in store which was a bit loose since I couldn’t wait for the size I ordered to come in the mail. It turns out the dress that I had ordered in size 00 regular has a 27″ waist which is too snug on my natural waist which is currently 29″.
LOFT Striped Tie Hem Button Back Top, size XSP | Click here to view the clip from my try-on
This chevron stripe tie hem top looked cute but my usual size XSP was a bit narrow at the hips so the buttons in the back pulled a bit if you view the clip I linked to here.
LOFT Dotted Dolman Cap Sleeve Shirt, size XSP | Click here to view the clip from my try-on
I loved this dotted blouse on my friend Lilly but I didn’t like the fit on me in my usual size. If you tie the front then the back hem looks odd since the back hem is a lot longer than the front especially due to the split in the shirttail hemline.
LOFT Cactus Vintage Soft Tee, size XXSP | Click here to view the clip from my try-on
This cactus print tee is really cute and I found it in the sale section. Size XXSP fits like size XSP and the length is a bit longer on me so I passed. The fabric in this print isn’t too thin compared to some of their other vintage tees which I reviewed in this previous post so it’s not sheer.
If you’re interested in their new slide sandals I had slipped on the leopard print one in store in my usual size 7 and the length of the sole looked longer so there was more space after my heel than I preferred so I also slid on size 6 which fit me. The strap across the foot was a little snug in the smaller size since I have slightly wider feet.
Ann Taylor Lattice Knit Wrap Dress, size XSP | Click here and here to view the clips from my try-on
I loved this dress on my friend Annie and my usual size XSP fit me well. Every time I find something cute in stores I never seem to find enough items at the store to take advantage of the Cares card (also available at LOFT here) which requires me to spend $100+ in order to save an additional 25% off of the current sale price. Hopefully I can stop by this weekend to see if they have any more new arrivals in the petite section.
AE Wide Strap Romper, size XS | LOFT Criss Cross Slingback Sandals (true to size, review here and here) | Click here to view the clip from my try-on
I loved this romper on Amanda but I didn’t like the above color and print on me. I’m curious about this black floral print version. Size XS is very snug at the chest so I want to try size S but I’m afraid the rest of the romper may fit too loose all over. I returned this romper and tried on a few styles in store but I haven’t had any luck with American Eagle finds unlike other bloggers.
Thanks for stopping by!
Love your blog as always! I saw that cactus tee in the store the other day, but I honestly felt it was pretty thin, so I didn’t bother to try it on. It looks really cute on you, though. I really loved last year’s heather grey version.
Quick question: can you link your LOFT sale schedule? I know you mentioned it in a previous post, but I can’t seem to find it 🙁 I have $120 worth of rewards cards that expire 6/15, but right now there really isn’t anything that I actually want, so I’m hoping more things are released before 6/15 along with a 40% off everything sale so I can use the rewards AND my LOFT Cares card before they both expire. Thanks for your help!
Thank you Lisa! The cactus one is not as thin as than the eyelet vintage soft elbow sleeve tee. I missed out on last year’s version.
I think you’re asking about the sales predictions based on last year’s sales and the schedule can be found on my Daily Updates page (https://www.whatjesswore.com/insta-links). I hope you find some cute things to buy with your rewards points! That is a lot you saved up. I’ll have to update that page with June soon.
So many cute pieces Jess! The gray jumpsuit looks SO comfy!
Ah, bummer the dolman cap sleeve shirt didn’t work out for you. I definitely liked it much better tucked in. Otherwise I had to mess with it too much to make it look right if tied in front. Too much work lol
Thanks Lilly! They grey jumpsuit feels like soft pajamas. The dolman shirt I tried on was tied at the front and I tried to “see” what it would look like untied. I love it on you and tucking it in sounds like a less fussy way to wear it.
Great try ons! The yellow dress is awesome!
Thank you Minau!
Hi Jess, I haven’t seen you mention this, but right now if you’re logged in as a card member, you can actually stack two codes online! I’ve placed three orders using FINALLY and SUNSHINEVIP. Great deal!
Hi Illini! Thank you so much for sharing the SUNSHINEVIP code for Cardmembers! Out of curiosity how did you receive this stacking code? I just tested it and it seems to work for an extra $25 off $100+. It also seems to work on final sale, clearance and Lou & Grey items too! Yay! Have a great long weekend! I’m sure you made a lot of other LOFT lovers happy too by sharing this! 🙂
I received a mailer “for cardmembers only” and it specifically said “use with other promotions!” It is good through the 27th! And yes it’s $25 off $100+. Have a great weekend!
That is awesome. Thanks again Illini! I only received a mailer for Ann Taylor.
I am new to your site. I shop heavily at Ann Taylor and love to see the loft pieces. Do you ever do blogs on White House Black Market? I recently shopped there and found some good pieces. Also, I was wondering if you could do a try on for the following shoes.
Hi Kiran, Thank you for visiting my site and for asking about WHBM reviews. I haven’t shopped there in years but I could check them out since I had noticed they carry petites and they’re part of ShopRunner. Those sneakers look really cute and comfy so if you see me review them then you’ll know why. 🙂
