Happy Wednesday! I wore this outfit over the weekend when it was finally felt like shorts weather. Also you may have noticed that my hair is curled in the above photo. It’s been a few years since I attempted loose curls since I have thin hair that gets split ends easily when using a regular curling iron. I recently splurged on the Dyson Airwrap for my late birthday present since it curls with less heat than other styling tools.
OUTFIT DETAILS: LOFT Striped Pocket Open Cardigan, size XSP (review here) | Ann Taylor Scalloped Shell, size XSP (review here) | LOFT Crepe Pull On Shorts, size XXS regular (review here) | Ainifeel Women’s Genuine Leather Hobo Shoulder Bag | Leather Prince Beon the cowhide horse leather bagcharm (small size, review here) | Soludos Ibiza Classic Sneakers (review here) | Click here to view a clip of the outfit on me
I’ve been trying to get used to using the tool and I am a novice when it comes to hair so it took me about 25-30 minutes to get my hair to look decent using the 1.6″ airwrap barrels as seen here. I did not use any hair styling products, curled my hair dry (I still need to try it with semi dried hair), I also combed out all the curls after styling and my hair held the curls pretty well. The first day my husband even helped me with the back pieces but the second day went better since I sectioned my hair and did the back/bottom pieces first. I watched many positive and negative YouTube reviews (I linked to my two favorite reviews based on their thoroughness) but ultimately decided I had to try the set myself.
To be honest most of the attachments blow my fine, thin hair around creating little wispies so I only use the dryer and the airwrap barrels. I really wish the attachments were sold separately instead of all bundled together. Curling with dry hair I had to use really small sections and I have to guide the ends of my hair so that it catches at the ends and wraps itself around the airwrap barrels. I noticed that only the top half of the 1.6″ airwrap barrels have a stronger Coanda effect (it’s also possible I received a defective set).
If you’re quick and adept at using a regular curling iron I wouldn’t bother to splurge on this tool. I also wouldn’t recommend this set for thin, fine hair textures since it’s not very effective. I’m still new to using it and it takes me too much time on top of my regular morning routine still so I haven’t worn my hair curled yet at work.
Update 7/20/20: I have watched many influencers’ raving reviews of the Dyson Airwrap. However, if you watch the end of this review by Julia Berolzheimer her experience at the end where all of the curls look like they have fallen is the exact experience that I had. You can almost catch her look of annoyance that she has to “refresh” the curls so I assume she may have tried to film the tutorial more than once. The curls do not last for me and they fell out rather quickly in the summer humidity. It was honestly one of my biggest regret purchases last year.

TRY-ONS & REVIEWS
For size reference I’m 5′ 2.5″ and currently 114-115 instead of my usual 110 pounds. I’m usually size XS petite in tops and 0/25 petite in pants and jeans. If you’re new to my blog I typically share the link to a short video clip below each image (the same video clips I share in my Instagram stories swipe ups during sales). My Pinterest is also up to date if you prefer a more visual catalog of my reviews. You can also check out my other reviews organized by retailer here.
Lou & Grey Brushmarl Jumpsuit, size XXS regular | LOFT Sheer 3/4 Sleeve Cardigan in tumeric spice, size SP | LOFT Criss Cross Slingback Sandals (true to size, review here and here) | Click here to view the clip from my try-on
This grey jumpsuit runs true to size and the shorter inseam (25.5″) is an ankle skimming fit on me. I went up once size in the cardigan for a looser fit but it fits true to size if you want to take your usual size.
I saw this tie hem tank in store so I ordered it in petites to try. It has a ridged texture to it and my usual size fits me well. Size XSP measures 32.5″ at the chest, 34″ along the bottom hem and 22″ total length.
I sized up in this light blue and white stripe sweater for a looser fit. The material is thinner making it perfect for the spring and summer.
This is another sweater I saw in store that was very popular so I ordered it in petites to try. It’s a thin sweater that requires a layering cami. I’m afraid it would snag easily and I don’t love how the material feels against the skin so I’m leaning towards returning it.
This dotted stripe dress was one of my favorite try-ons and I like the looser shift style. My usual size XSP fit me well and it has functional pockets. The material has a good weight to it and it has a nice comfortable stretch. This would be a nice conservative dress for work or church. You can also see this dress featured on @loveloft_natick.
This floral print is really pretty against yellow. The dress is unlined but it’s not sheer. The waist measured 28.5″ in my usual size 0P. If you live for bold prints then you may also like this floral kimono, tie hem top or these wide leg pants.
I tried on the stripe tee but I can’t find it online at the moment. Size XXSP fits like my usual size XSP.
LOFT Striped Button Down Flare Dress, size 2P | Ann Taylor Lanie Colorblock Leather Slingback Pump (true to size, review here) | Click here to view the clip from my try-on
I like this striped button down dress and tried on size 2P in store which was a bit loose since I couldn’t wait for the size I ordered to come in the mail. It turns out the dress that I had ordered in size 00 regular has a 27″ waist which is too snug on my natural waist which is currently 29″.
This chevron stripe tie hem top looked cute but my usual size XSP was a bit narrow at the hips so the buttons in the back pulled a bit if you view the clip I linked to here.
I loved this dotted blouse on my friend Lilly but I didn’t like the fit on me in my usual size. If you tie the front then the back hem looks odd since the back hem is a lot longer than the front especially due to the split in the shirttail hemline.
This cactus print tee is really cute and I found it in the sale section. Size XXSP fits like size XSP and the length is a bit longer on me so I passed. The fabric in this print isn’t too thin compared to some of their other vintage tees which I reviewed in this previous post so it’s not sheer.
If you’re interested in their new slide sandals I had slipped on the leopard print one in store in my usual size 7 and the length of the sole looked longer so there was more space after my heel than I preferred so I also slid on size 6 which fit me. The strap across the foot was a little snug in the smaller size since I have slightly wider feet.
I loved this dress on my friend Annie and my usual size XSP fit me well. Every time I find something cute in stores I never seem to find enough items at the store to take advantage of the Cares card (also available at LOFT here) which requires me to spend $100+ in order to save an additional 25% off of the current sale price. Hopefully I can stop by this weekend to see if they have any more new arrivals in the petite section.
I loved this romper on Amanda but I didn’t like the above color and print on me. I’m curious about this black floral print version. Size XS is very snug at the chest so I want to try size S but I’m afraid the rest of the romper may fit too loose all over. I returned this romper and tried on a few styles in store but I haven’t had any luck with American Eagle finds unlike other bloggers.
Thanks for stopping by!
