Happy Halloween! I received the new Lady Day coat which I ordered in 2P. I love this year’s edit compared to their classic Lady Day coat since this version includes hidden buttons and button tabs at the waist which is a welcome feature since I lack waist definition. I ordered the coat when it was 40% off and an extra 20% off over a week ago making it $192.04 after discounts. It’s a tailored fit and even though I sized up I found that size 2P is a snug fit even with a thin top on. The measurements of size 2P are as follows: 22″ sleeve length, 12″ upper arm circumference, 14″ shoulders, 34″ bust, 30″ empire waist, 37″ hips, 48″ along the bottom hem and 34.5″ total length. I haven’t yet worn it out but this coat has a Thinsulate lining for extra warmth. The lining isn’t bulky but it definitely makes some of the surface level measurements I took feel smaller when you put the coat on. The material and finishing details on this coat are impeccable making this a a chic and timeless piece that you’ll wear for years. I wanted to also try the coat in size 4P but since petites is currently sold out in that size I exchanged it for regular size 0 especially since the petite sleeves are bracelet length on me.

Update 11/5: I received size 0 regular and the 23″ sleeve length is better than the 22″ sleeve length in petites but the overall length is longer than I prefer since it covers my knees. You can see how size 0 regular looks like with flats here. I called Customer Service and they price matched the sale price I paid and I will receive size 4 petite to try before I give up on this style. The measurements of size 0 regular are as follows: 23″ sleeve length, 12″ upper arm circumference, 14.5″ shoulders, 34″ bust, 30″ empire waist, 37″ hips, 49″ along the bottom hem and 37″ total length.

Update 11/21: I received size 4 petite and it fits me similar to size 2 petite and there is a bit more room at the shoulders and waist making it a more comfortable fit. The measurements of size 4 petite are as follows: 23″ sleeve length, 12″ upper arm circumference, 14.75″ shoulders, 34″ bust, 31″ empire waist, 38.5″ hips, 48″ along the bottom hem and 34.5″ total length. The sleeves are shorter than I prefer and while it’s a classic style I do not love the coat on me (at least in the black color) so I returned it.

I also ordered a few tops from Ann Taylor since I had a stackable code to use along with the unofficial 50% off code this month which is THANKS1. However, you can get 50% off your purchase with the code MYSTERY. Sale ends 11/1 at 3AM ET. If you’re a Cardmember you can check your inbox for an email with the subject ‘This offer is ALL for you’ sent on 10/28 for unique, extra 10% off codes across their brands. I love this mock neck top and I sized up after reading a few reviews that it ran small. Size SP fits like my usual size XSP but the sleeves are a bit snug although not uncomfortably so.

I thought the button details added interest on this sweater and I love olive for the fall/winter so I ordered it to try. I am trying on a size up from my usual so it’s a bit loose but it still looks really cute with the dolman sleeves. The material is soft and not itchy. If you like this sweater I noticed that it’s also available as a dress.

Ralphie and I are matching here or rather he blends right in. 🙂

I previously reviewed this cable knit sweater in my usual size (XXS regular) in this previous post but I ended up reordering them in size XS and S petite to compare. Size SP would be my preferred size for both colors since the sleeves are longer in the regular missy size. I’m leaning towards only keeping the white color sweater. Note that this sweater also comes in a v-neck version in black.

Crewcut Girls' T-shirt with heart-shaped pocket, size 14Crewcut Girls’ T-shirt with heart-shaped pocket, size 14 | Abercrombie High Rise Mom Shorts, size 26/2 (I went up a size for comfort) | Zara Raffia Crossbody Bag (item no. 6667/510) | Soludos Ibiza Classic Sneakers (review here)

Lastly, I ordered this Crewcuts girls’ T-shirt with heart-shaped pocket in size 14 which fits like size XS petite at LOFT. You can see the white on me here and the grey color on me here. I thought the heart pocket was a really adorable detail and I couldn’t resist the sale price and free shipping on Crewcuts. Update 7/25/20: I finally wore the grey t-shirt today so I had a chance to update this post with a photo.

    Hi Jess,
I appreciate all the reviews you’ve done on this coat. I was tempted to order it when it was on sale, but I had no idea what size to get. I really liked the 4p on you.

Hi! Thank you for your review of J Crew Lady Day Coat. What did you think of the quality of the coat? I read that you didn’t keep it. Was it only because of the sizing? Thank you so much for your help! 🙂

Hi Deborah, My pleasure. I personally thought the quality was nice and the coat is a good weight. Someone that I was chatting with privately about the coat via direct message mentioned that she wishes the outer wool material was softer but I don’t mind the texture (should hopefully help to prevent pilling). I thought the coat wasn’t the most comfortable at the chest when buttoned and the sleeves look short on me in petite as well. The regular size 0 sleeves were fine but then the overall length was too long. I am in between tall and petite in terms of sizing and length and I just didn’t want to settle on the fit.
