J.Crew Daphne topcoat in Italian boiled wool in warm caramel, size 00 regular (similar here) | Similar jeans here | Similar slingback pumps here | Celine Micro Belt Bag (buy pre-owned here, note that I shortened the strap to 36″) | Click here to view a clip from my try-on
Coat season here is here in New England and I’ve been looking for some stylish options to add to my collection. First up is this boiled wool coat and warm caramel has shades of pumpkin that I didn’t love. I actually wanted the neutral color called ‘autumn biscuit’ but size 00 was sold out that day and I’m debating if I should try it in another color since the color makes a big difference in how you feel about a particular style. The coat has a relaxed fit making it perfect for wearing layers underneath. It is unlined and I found the material to be scratchy with short sleeves on but okay when I’m wearing long sleeves. The pocket placement adds a bit of bulk to the hips but otherwise it’s a decent fit if you gravitate towards the slightly oversized coat look with minimal details and clean lines. The coat doesn’t offer much warmth so unless you plan on wearing layers I wouldn’t expect this to keep you toasty. The sleeves look like they’re meant to be bracelet length judging from the online photos so the petite sleeves would have been too short on me. The measurements of size 00 regular are as follows: 14″ shoulders, 22.5″ sleeve length, 12″ upper arm circumference, 10″ wrists, 37″ chest, 36″ waist, 42″ along the bottom hem and 34″ total length.
Update 10/14: I was able to try on the ‘autumn biscuit’ color here and the ‘dark moss’ color here in size 00 regular. I like the ‘dark moss’ color best and the ‘icy mountain blue’ color looks really pretty in person too but I didn’t try it on. The ‘autumn biscuit’ color was a dark tan neutral color in person and not the light camel/tan color it appears to be online.
J.Crew Going-out blazer in stretch twill, size 00 regular | LOFT Ruffle Henley Shell, size XXS regular (review here) | Click here to view the clip from my try-on
I like the look of this blazer but it runs small so I should have gone with the online fit recommendation of size 0 regular. I’m debating if I should exchange it when I go into the store or just return it and wait for a better price. The sleeves have a slit at the end which you can better see in the video clip I linked to. The measurements of size 00 regular are as follows: 14″ shoulders, 21.25″ sleeve length, 11″ upper arm circumference, 8.5″ wrists, 32″ chest, 28″ waist and 23.5″ total length.
J.Crew Zip-up plush fleece coat in Scottish lamb, size XXS regular | Click here and here to view the clips from my try-on
Despite reading the negative online reviews I went ahead and ordered this coat anyway. I had to satisfy my curiosity since the coat looked cute online but it is indeed a shapeless coat (refer to my measurements but it’s one boxy width from the chest down) and the bulky, wide sleeves don’t help. If you want to look like the abominable snowman then this is the coat. The measurements of size XXS regular are as follows: 16.5″ shoulders, 22″ sleeve length, 16″ upper arm circumference, 9″ wrists, 40″ chest, 40″ waist, 40″ along the bottom hem and 32″ total length.
Update 10/17: The Chateau parka is back in new colors and it’s also available in a puffer jacket style this year! Please check out my review here. I took size 00 regular when I tried it on in years past to reassess the fit.
Lacoste Women’s Daily Classic Coated Canvas Backpack (available on Amazon for less here, affordable version here) | Ann Taylor Terra Floral Smocked Flare Dress, size 0P, size 0P | Exact flats here (old/sold out), similar flats here | Click here and here to view a few clips from my try-on
I spotted this backpack on a woman at the mall in a beautiful burgundy color and I thought it looked very chic. I found it on Amazon for less so I ordered it to try. It’s a small, lightweight backpack with a PVC exterior so it should do well against the elements. It has one zip pocket outside and two pockets inside (one of which has a zipper closure). The straps are adjustable (up to 28″ at the last hole) and not too long which I like so the backpack rests at a comfortable spot on my back as seen here. I am wearing it with the strap buckled in the middle hole which is about 26″. Update 10/14: I ended up readjusting and wearing the backpack with the straps on the last hole which was more comfortable with a jacket on.

“abominable snowman” …hee hee. No way you look like the abominable snowman in that coat, but I see the point about the coat! Thanks for the new round of reviews.

Thanks for reading my post Debbie! I really appreciate it!
The going out blazer is pretty nice. I wonder if they are going to bring back the chateau parka this year. Kind of surprised I haven’t seen it yet.

Thank you @leesooim! I’m surprised too! I remember it was excluded from promotions for a while last year too!
