I’m back with new reviews this week. My husband and I decided to take a much needed staycation this week. I’ve been trying to unplug and recharge since working from home makes it harder to unplug. These paper bag shorts are really cute and comfortable with a looser fit but they do wrinkle/crinkle easily as seen here. I returned the whisper white color since I would have preferred the shorts in a true bright white.

This peplum tank is cute basic and it’s a longer length so it provides the right amount of coverage to cover the front and back. I ordered both colors but if I had to choose then I prefer the blue color on me.

The floral wreath on the wall behind me in my mirror selfies is from ModSugarDesign (review here). The faux cream white roses and anemones in a vase is from GlamFloral (review here). The floor mirror with a tray and clothing rack which I folded in back in a triangle this time is by Umbra and I noticed that it’s available for less on Amazon. Urban Outfitters has a similar leaning version here that is very minimalist. Details on the chandelier and chairs can be found in this older post.

I ordered this smocked back dress in black and the daisy print and they are the same size but I found the solid black color to be more flattering. The daisy print version fit a bit more snug through the top. I do wish the straps were wider to cover your bra straps.
I finally wore out the Zara clear sandals on a longer shopping trip (for a few hours) and they almost gave me a blister. They’re okay for short grocery runs but the more my feet were in them the more it pinched where the clear cutouts are on the sides. Hopefully over time the straps will stretch out since I do like the look of them.
These clear double strap sandals are another more comfortable option I saw at Express. They run true to size since I slipped them on quickly. I noticed that the straps across the middle of your feet are a bit looser similar to how the Minny sandals fit me.

I loved this cropped cardigan so much I ordered the whisper white color after getting the olive color (review here). I usually try not to order multiple colors but I wear both colors of this cardigan top on rotation as you can see in this clip here where I was out walking Ralphie.

I love white, scallops and lace so I ordered this top at full-price and it’s really pretty and true to size for a relaxed fit. It’s fully lined so the lace isn’t sheer except at the peplum flounce which is not lined.

This new floral dress caught my eye and I ordered my regular size 00 regular and 0 petite to compare. After trying on both sizes a few times I decided to go with the petite size for a better fit at the chest. It’s currently sold out online but I’m sure sizes will pop back. The dress is fully lined and not sheer and the buttons are functional. I didn’t like the cutout detail at the bust but you can tie the loops to provide more coverage so that you can barely see the cutout. Due to the cut and placement of the floral print each dress will be unique so if you’re picky then you may have ordered more than one dress to try-on and choose from.

I ordered a bunch of final sale accessories at Ann Taylor and as I was trying on the clutch the strap came loose from the hook. I will have to use a clamp to make sure that the metal loop that secures the chain strap to the hook is secured with no gaps. The bag I received came with some scratches on the gold hardware but it wasn’t a deal breaker for me (I got it for a final sale price of $17.96).

These earrings are really pretty but the closure for the hoops face the same way for both ears so it’s easy to put one of them on backwards.

I wanted to like this black hat but when it arrived the straw was thinner than I expected and it was too loose on my head.
Urban Outfitters Straw Bell Hat
I had high hopes for this straw hat since I thought the ribbon ties would be a perfect solution to keep from losing the hat to the wind. Unfortunately this hat was too loose on my head. It is well made and I like the shape but the style just wasn’t for me.

These sandals looked so cute online and in person but the band was a little loose across my feet. I wanted the neutral solid color but they sold out so I ordered the gingham print to try. The length of the sole runs true to size for me.

I ordered these slides to try after seeing them on my friend Lilly. The color is lighter so I found the shade harder to match with my purses but they are really cute and well made. The length of the soles were a little short in my opinion but going up half a size was too long so I would stick with your usual size.

I was curious about this straw bag so I ordered it to try since MANGO offers free return shipping. The total length of the removable crossbody strap end to end is 38.5″ (19.25″ drop). The bag comes with an inner cinched liner that is sewn to the bottom so you can’t remove it. I wish it came with a clasp to keep the sides in.

I ordered these face masks (pack of 3 masks for $15) and they arrived quickly and are very well made. FYI. If you have BR Luxe status then you can use code LUXE for free shipping with no minimum. I gave 2 of the adult face masks to my sister-in-law since I don’t need that many masks. They were loose at first but they seem to fit a bit better after washing and line drying.

I also bought the Target adult face masks (pack of 2 masks for $4) in size S/M and they fit me well. There are two layers with a pocket for a filter and they’re very comfortable and breathable. In comparison the masks from Banana Republic Factory are thicker due to being three layers.
On a related note, my husband uses a mask extender (the exact one he uses is linked and another option here) to save his ears since he has a larger head and wider face. The extender he got from a co-worker recently broke after using it daily since the beginning of June so he ordered the one I linked to which is 7.5″ long. Meanwhile I made him an mask extender out of some extra ribbon and two larger buttons as seen above. The length of the mask extender should be the length measured from the middle of your nose to the middle of your ears.
The BYD single use face masks (50 for $21.99) sold at Costco have stretchier ear straps which makes them more comfortable for my husband compared to the disposable masks we bought from Lollicup’s online store (linked here for reference). He was wearing one of the face masks we ordered from Lollicup when one of the ear straps broke and he did not have any extra masks in the car. He was desperate and purchased the first set of reusable masks he could find only to find out that he couldn’t fit the Bella+Canvas face masks (5 for $14.99) sold at T.J. Maxx. Update 7/20: The Bella+Canvas face masks are 2-ply but they feel like one layer since they’re made of a dual-compacted, double-ply jersey fabric.

Ralphie took the onsie and the Puppia harness in size M. He is a 15 pound male Shih Tzu. I washed the onesie before and the hole I cut for his private area allows him to do his business comfortably and it also has not frayed. I wash and line dry the onesie.
I recently purchased the Wahl Peanut clippers after cutting myself with the Scaredy Cut. The clippers are not very quiet but it didn’t scare Ralphie and it is easy to use. Ralphie’s hair got stuck to the foam inside the blade so I used the little brush to keep the blade clean of his hairs between 20 minute short breaks. It took about 2 hours to trim him using the clippers. The longest clipper is 1/2″ resulting in a “summer cut” which is perfect right now during the hot summer months. I should probably invest in better clippers in the future but the Scaredy Cut and Wahl Peanut clippers will do for now. I still use the Scaredy cut to trim and even out his legs since they have more lengths to choose from for the plastic snap-on clippers.

I recently bought this apron since I wanted to save my clothes from getting hair all over when cutting my husband’s hair and Ralphie’s hair. It has pockets which is handy for keeping a comb or another tool that I need to keep within reach.
Lastly, in case you haven’t heard, Ascena, the parent company of Ann Taylor and LOFT, recently filed for bankruptcy and there will be store closings across their brands which you can read more about here. I first heard about the possibility of a bankruptcy back in early June in this article. They are not going out of business so we’ll still be able to shop online and in stores but some of us will miss our local stores.
