J.Crew Villa Coat in Italian Stadium-Cloth Wool, size 00 regular | LOFT Turtleneck Poncho Sweater, size XSP (review here, this year’s version here) | Ann Taylor Curvy Frayed Hem Performance Stretch Skinny Jeans in ecru, size 00P (old favorite, review here) | Polene Cyme Mini in camel (review here) | Soludos Ibiza Sneaker (true to size)
I ordered this new J.Crew Villa coat in the heather sand color last week when it was $100 off (combined with the extra 20% off code CARDLOVE for cardmember appreciation month it was $212 after both discounts). Size 00 regular is very oversized but I cannot size down since the sleeves on J.Crew outerwear are always too short for me in petites. You can see the sleeves on me here. The side entry pockets are slightly lower so it’s a slightly awkward reach as seen in this clip. It’s a mid-weight coat that’s the same weight as the Chateau Parka which I own in 3 colors over the years since (review here).
Update 11/16: Please check out my review of size 00 petite here.

The measurements of size 00 regular are as follows: 15.5″ shoulders, 14″ upper arm circumference, 11.5″ wrist circumference, 23″ sleeve length, 41.5″ chest, 42″ at the waist, 42″ sweep along the bottom hem and 34″ total length. For fit reference I”m 5′ 2.5″ and currently 114-116 pounds.
The shell is 80% wool and 20% polyamide and the lining is 100% polyester. The Italian stadium cloth material has a beautiful texture to it as you can see from the above photo of the inner lining. In person the heather sand color is a light tan/oatmeal color which is a versatile neutral. The above photo with the lining is the most accurate photo of the heather sand color and the fabric texture since this coat kept on showing up lighter and more washed out in the other photos.
LOFT Medallion flippy dress, size XXS regular (review here) | c/o Amazon The Drop Women’s Ibita High Heel Side Zip Ankle Boot (I took size 6 but usually wear size 7)
Here is what the coat would look like styled with my favorite old LOFT Medallion flippy dress. In full disclosure I returned this coat because the fit was too oversized for my preference.

In the above photo I took try-on photos at night the day the coat arrived but I was second guessing myself so I didn’t publish this review with just this photo and the linked video clips. I also ordered the teddy sherpa version of the Villa coat to try but it won’t arrive until later since it’s wait-listed.

Update 11/7: Size 00 regular of the teddy sherpa version arrived in the mail the other day. The collar is very oversized due to the thicker material. It looks like I’m wearing a dingy bathroom rug for a coat. The stand collar is very overwhelming on a petite frame especially since I recently cut my hair which would have have helped to cover some of the collar. I decided to reorder the heather sand color of the regular Villa coat to try in size 00 petite since it’s on flash sale for $164.50 (55% off) just to satisfy my curiosity.
The shell faux fur and the lining is 100% polyester. The measurements of size 00 regular are as follows: 15.5″ shoulders, 10″ wrist circumference, 23″ sleeve length, 40″ chest, 40″ at the waist, 40″ sweep along the bottom hem and 33″ total length.

Above is the true color of the natural color against my white room dividers. In good lighting it’s an off white color similar to the color of un-dyed sheep skin.

Great review. I was on the fence from ordering it, since I live in a town without J.Crew store. Not sure, as card member, if I can return in mail without getting charged for returning shipping like Madewell. Wish I had seen your review earlier, so I would be more confident for ordering. Like you, I am constantly hopping between regular and petite sizes. Very difficult without seeing in person.

Thanks so much, Julia! I checked and I do not think J.Crew offers free mail returns for Cardmembers. You could try calling or chatting with their Customer Service just in case they make an exception for you. I hope you like the coat if you end up ordering it in an upcoming sale. I provided the sale price as a point of reference since their sales/deals change all of the time.
