Happy Friday! I got a few hours back from work today since it’s the first day of summer hours where we get off at 2PM ET on Fridays from now through Labor Day. I feel like I’ve been busier than ever especially these last few months. This article says it’s the micro stressors that can sometimes get the best of us. I developed an unhealthy habit of staying up late to relax and watch a show, do the dishes and prep Ralphie‘s fresh food for the next day when I should have gotten these tasks out of the way right after dinner. I’ve been on a hamster wheel of being too tired to function and taking naps that have a way of wrecking my plans and productivity and then I had no energy left for my blog.

I ordered a bunch of dresses recently and I’m only sharing two dresses that I love and would recommend. The above striped shirt dress has pockets, it’s $32 and comes in 4 colors. I also ordered it in white but the white fabric is slightly sheer (and needs a slip) so I’m only keeping the blue stripes version. The end of the cuffs on the sleeves were snug around my forearms and I also didn’t like the look of the longer cuff so I used the micro stitch device (reviewed here) to keep the sleeves cuffed at my preferred length. The material is thicker in some places where I folded the cuff 3 times so I lost a few of the micro tags until I found the right spots to secure the folds in place.

I am happy for the return of summer because downtime finally finds me and I feel like I can prioritize me without any of the usual guilt that I should be checking something off of my to-do list. Last week I started working out again after being frustrated that I was searching for dresses with sleeves and jackets in the summer to cover up my insecurities. I didn’t like the person I saw in the birthday video last month and truth be told no loose clothes could hide my growing waistline which was a little more than 34 inches around my belly button (that’s 1 inch more than what it was last summer when I had also started slimming down). Hopefully a happier and healthier me will be back. I’m also looking forward to finally seeing my family in person since Covid started. We’re finally making a road trip to see them for part of vacation in June and Ralphie is turning 4!

Lastly, I wanted to share this striped cover-up dress and at $79 it’s more than I wanted to spend but I like the relaxed swingy fit and the fact that the stripes match up perfect at the seams. The material isn’t too thin so it’s not clingy and it’s very flattering. I originally ordered size XXS since I wasn’t sure about the sizing for Coolibar but it was too snug so size XS fits me best at my current weight of 118 pounds.
