Over four months have passed since Ralphie left us in June. We fought chronic kidney disease for 3.5 years but in the end he likely had a cancerous mass in his stomach that caused him to decline quickly. He was incredibly tough and endured so much in his short life. Now he’s in a better place—free from suffering and free from the body that failed him. Coming home to such a quiet and empty place wasn’t the same without his presence but I like to think that he guided us to bring home Seamus to heal our broken hearts. Ralphie would be happy to see that his half-nephew is enjoying the home he left behind much far too soon.
